Blogmas #17: An evening at The Savoy

On Monday night, I visited The Savoy cinema in Heaton Moor. An ornate building in the middle of a bustling street filled with restaurants and bars, The Savoy has ran since 1923. I love that this cinema is still going as I think every building nowadays is so modern and has no history behind it.

We went to see the new Fantastic Beasts film which was amazing - you HAVE to go and see it if you haven't already! I rang up the box office prior to the show and reserved our tickets which we could then purchase when we arrived.

The tickets were really cute and added to the old fashioned feel. We also got a box of pick'n'mix which came in this really cute box which I would describe as a Popcorn box.

We were invited to wait in the seating area until the screen was ready. This consisted of burgundy/purple velvet booths - it was such a cosy area. The decor was also beautiful - I loved all of the flowers scattered on the surfaces.

When the screen was ready we were able to go through. Due to the age of the building, there is only one screen in the cinema.

We upgraded to the luxury seats which were SO comfy. These seats were only £10 each which I think is so reasonable and were located on a slightly higher part so you had a great view of the screen. Can we just discuss these seats?! They were velvet AND had a cushion. I was so comfy throughout I can't even explain.

I'd heard that there was an interval like at the theatre where an usherette walks round with sweets and ice cream for sale. I was so excited for this as it is so different to any other cinema. Sadly, they've stopped this now and just sell the food and drinks before you go in like other cinemas. Even so, I loved this cinema so much - I think it will definitely be my new cinema!

PS. the toilets were amazing. Anywhere with nice toilets, does it for me! The mirrors are also in theme with The Savoy logo - I appreciate that kind of effort.

I had the best time and can't wait to visit before New Year to watch the new Mary Poppins (am I a child, yes).
