Afternoon Tea @ Gotham

Hi guys,

Yesterday I had a lovely day which consisted of afternoon tea at Gotham Hotel in Manchester. I used to work around the corner from Gotham and walking past it everyday, I've always wanted to visit. It is such a beautiful building that oozes class and luxury - I especially love the tradition of door men and the personalised little yellow car outside.

Being one of the best hotels in Manchester, when I found out that they did afternoon tea, I knew I had to go! I was spoilt rotten for my birthday, one of my presents off my friend being afternoon tea here.

I mean, is there really much better than an afternoon spent eating cake and drinking tea? I don't think so. Add in a Christmas themed menu and I'm sold!

I've been to quite a few places for afternoon tea and their menus seem to stay the same all year round but I absolutely loved the fact that Gotham had adopted the Christmas-style menu for a bit of a change.

The menu consisted of the following:

- Cheese and Pickle
- Turkey and Stuffing
- Prawn, Chilli and Avocado
- Pork and Cranberry

I thoroughly enjoyed each of these sandwiches but I would have to say my favourite was surprisingly the cheese one. It was so flavoursome - I loved it.

Please note that the sandwiches provided are a selection of chef specials so they may vary day to day.

- Candy Cane Macaroon
- Chocolate Orange Yule Log
- Warm Apple Crumble Pie with Cinnamon
- 'Not the Gumdrop Button' Cheesecake

The Candy Cane Macaroon was a mint flavour which was quite strange - I have never had a mint macaroon before. That being said, I really liked it. I do think it is personal preference - my friend doesn't like mint so it wasn't her cup of tea (pardon the pun) but I thought it was lovely.

The yule log was just something else. The chocolate was incredible and the orange flavour definitely added to the whole taste. I could have had a much bigger slice of this!

The apple crumble - where to start. Yum. I think that is all that needs to be said.

My favourite part of the menu has got to be the Shrek quote. Anyone who knows me will know my love for Shrek and that is definitely one of my favourite bits of the film so thumbs up to Gotham for that addition! The cheesecake was a bit runny which was a shame as it was quite difficult to get it off the cake stand onto my plate without it falling apart.

The scones were amazing. The scones were accompanied with clotted cream and an orange and cranberry spiced jam which was lovely and, again, very festive!

I loved that they were a miniature size because I often find that the larger scones are too much during afternoon tea. These scones were the perfect size.

I absolutely adored the decor in Gotham. I'm feeling extremely festive this year and their Christmas decorations definitely helped with my festiveness! The afternoon tea was held in their 'Honey' restaurant.

I had a lovely day at Gotham. The atmosphere, food and decor were all amazing and I would definitely recommend their afternoon tea. To view the afternoon tea menu, click here.

As always, thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
