My complimentary visit to Exchange Lounge

Hi lovelies,

I was recently invited to visit the Exchange Lounge in Manchester to try out their current food menu. Opened in 2016, this artisan-style restaurant is located within the ‘Novotel’ hotel at the bottom of Portland Street, Manchester.

I've walked past this place quite a few times and thought that it was exclusive to hotel guests so it was nice to learn that it is in fact open to the general public!

I was offered a complimentary three course meal for two by Restaurant Manager, Matthew so I took one of my best friends for a nice girly catch up!

For our starter, we shared three small plates between us. I think that these small plates are really reasonably priced - 3 small plates for £12. I personally think that three is a really nice size for a starter to share or potentially as a main for one person.

We opted for:
- Salt and Pepper Calamari;
- Korean BBQ Wings; and
- Baked Whole Camembert with Breadsticks.

The calamari was amazing. I love fish so this was always going to be one of my choices! It didn’t taste as fishy as usual & I really enjoyed it. Sometimes calamari can be a bit rubbery but this was lovely. The batter was particularly nice!

I really enjoyed the BBQ wings. I'm not a massive fan of spice so I liked that they were quite mild in this respect but they were nice and flavoursome. If you are sharing this dish, I would recommend getting two portions as there wasn't a great deal of meat on the wings!

Finally, Camembert. Every girls dream - well, mine anyway. The Camembert came with breadsticks, celery and crusty bread. I’m not a massive fan of celery so I stuck with the bread which was the perfect addition to this meal. When the Camembert arrived it wasn’t fully melted and was still quite hard. The staff however were so accommodating and ensured that it was cooked to perfection when they brought it back! My only criticism of this dish was that the breadsticks and bread didn’t taste as fresh as they could have been but it was nice still.

I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken which I loved!! This was served with a waffle and sweet potato mash. I’m not usually a sweet and savoury gal but I absolutely adored this mix. The waffle was incredible - it wasn’t too sweet but it had a nice taste to it. I would definitely order this again!

My friend opted for the Americano pizza which was pepperoni, bacon and jalapeƱos. In all honesty, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary but it was nice enough for a cold eve!

We both opted for the brownie which was insane. It was served with salted caramel ice cream which, I have to say, is one of the nicest variations of salted caramel ice creams I’ve had. I also loved the presentation of this dish.

I loved the decor of this restaurant. There were a variety of different seats, some high and some low, which gave the restaurant a really modern feel. The combination of wood and fresh plants gave a real rustic feel.

I also loved the little table decorations too! Such a quirky touch.

Overall I had a lovely visit to the Exchange Lounge. This is the perfect place for a chilled out meal for a catch up with friends!

The staff were really helpful and accommodating and I really enjoyed my time here.

Thanks to Matthew for arranging this for me!

As always, thanks for reading! I hope that you've enjoyed this post.
