Travel bucket list

Hi guys,

Happy New Year!! I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

So it's now 2017 and, like most of us, I'm day dreaming about travelling. Alongside planning my upcoming trips for the year, I can't help but think ahead and look at all the amazing places that I can hopefully visit in the future!

Everyone has a bucket list of places that they want to travel to and things they would love to do if they have the opportunity to. Here are ten things I would love to do (in no particular order).

Phi Phi, Thailand

Number one on the list has to be Monkey Beach!! Monkeys are my fave animal ever - I think they're so funny and mischievous!

Is there anything better than soaking up the sun on a beach in Thailand, with incredible views, surrounded by monkeys?! In my eyes there isn't.

This is definitely on my bucket list within the next couple of years - Thailand looks a dream and I could not visit without coming here!

Singapore, one of the most luxurious cities in the world.

I have always, always, always wanted to visit Singapore. I've always been so envious when I've heard that people are visiting, or when I've seen people's pictures on Instagram or Facebook - especially if they've had the opportunity to stay at the amazing Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Located right in the heart of Singapore, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel towers above the city providing an incredible view of Singapore. To make it even more amazing, this hotel has an infinity pool overlooking it all.

Relax and soak up the sun whilst taking in the breathtaking views of Singapore - what better way to experience the city?

This is definitely on my bucket list for 2017 so watch this space for more info!

Costa Rica

Okay, so I'm not going to lie... I am slightly afraid of heights. Slightly being the main word, of course, as I don't let it get in the way of me doing exciting things!

One of the most fun (and, initially challenging) things I've done has to be Go Ape. For some, this will seem like absolutely nothing but - for someone who is slightly scared of heights - it can be quite daunting. I will admit that I did love it, especially the zip lining, even though I somehow managed to twist my wires and get myself stuck on one of the zip lines (but that is another story...)

I think zip lining through a large jungle would be incredible. The views would just be breathtaking and it would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience.

Costa Rica has three main zip lining destinations, all of which offer adventurous, adrenaline filled courses through a jungle setting.

I won't pretend that I wouldn't be petrified the whole way across but I know for a fact that I would want to do it all over again once I had finished!!

Reykjavik, Iceland

I've seen more and more people visit Iceland recently and I am so jealous! I have wanted to visit Iceland for so long but I haven't had the right opportunity to visit just yet. Although the lights can sometimes be viewed in the UK, I think it would be incredible seeing them close up in Reykjavik.

Timing is key as it affects the views of the Northern Lights - if you go at the wrong time they may not be visible at all - so definitely do your research before booking!!

I'm also all for relaxation and spas and Reykjavik is home to the Blue Lagoon (pictured above), the beautiful outdoor thermal baths. The dream would definitely be to view the lights whilst relaxing at the Blue Lagoon - it has happened!

Obviously this is a bucket list and so reflects my ultimate travel goals! I would absolute adore staying in a hut like the one shown above - the ceiling is pure glass and displays a perfect view of the sky. If the lights are visible, you'll even be able to see them from the comfort and warmth of your little hut!

Kruger National Park, South Africa

I have wanted to go on safari to South Africa for as long as I can remember. Before I was born, my auntie travelled extensively and one of the things that she did was a safari in South Africa. Ever since she told me about it, I've been struck on going!

I love animals - anyone that knows me will know how much I love animals. The zoo is probably one of my favourite places! However, I think there is something to be said for seeing animals in their natural environment and being so close to them looks amazing.

Again, I would probably be terrified when seeing animals such as cheetahs, lions etc up close but I just think it would be an incredible experience.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Elephants are one of my favourite animals in the world - I think they seem so playful and loving (hence the picture above).

Elephant tourism is becoming more and more popular and it makes me so sad because these beautiful creatures are being forced to carry weight they're not built for and the reality behind their care is just heartbreaking.

The Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai is a rescue centre for elephants that have been subjected to tourism and allows them to play, eat and live in a safe and friendly environment with other rescued elephants. This park is always open for volunteers to help to feed the elephants, gather food and resource for them and just look after them in general! The best thing is that no elephant treks take place!

This is my ultimate dream and I hope to volunteer here several times throughout my life.

Kanchanaburi, Thailand

Waterfalls are definitely up there, in my opinion, with the most beautiful nature sites. The fact that there aren't many impressive waterfalls in Europe makes them even more enticing to visit as they are not as easy for us to come across.

I would love to see as many amazing places as possible in my lifetime and so I've obviously had a look online at the best places to visit and what you definitely should see when you're there. I've got to say - this stood out for me.

The pretty rocks and clear, light blue water makes this site so idyllic and beautiful. Although this isn't the highest waterfall in the world, Erawan Falls consists of seven different waterfalls, each situated above the other - making it an impressive view. The rockpools are also beautiful to take a swim and relax in.

I think a skydive is probably on everyone's bucket list and it is definitely on mine! As I mentioned above at #3, I do have a slight fear of heights but I have always wanted to do a skydive.

Yes, I admit, I have tried to sign myself up so many times and have backed out (surprise surprise). In a way, I am kind of glad. I personally believe that a skydive is a once in a lifetime experience and once you've jumped out of a plane once, regardless of the views changing, it is something you've already done so it isn't as novel or exciting as the first time.

Dubai looks incredible generally and is somewhere that I would love to visit as soon as possible. The views are just amazing and I can't even imagine how insane a skydive over The Palm would be!! As soon as I find out, I promise to try and put it into words...

The Maldives

Visiting the Maldives has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember! As much as I love sight seeing, there is nothing better sometimes than simply soaking up the sun and relaxing in an amazing location and this definitely tops the majority of them!

These beach huts literally look insane - some of them even have built in jacuzzis on the deck! I've also read that some resorts are shoe-less - you literally don't have to wear shoes at all for your whole trip as everywhere is simply sand, sea and your amazing private beach hut. Bliss!

Regardless of the cost, I will make sure that I tick this off my bucket list one day!

Turtle Bay Resort, Hawaii

Yes, this is another animal related one! Again, is there anything more amazing than seeing animals in their natural habitat?!

I love the sea and would love the idea of going scuba diving but I've heard horror stories from people I know and I am put off for life (for now). When I heard that you can swim/scuba dive with turtles, it immediately became something I wanted to do!

I just can't deal with the cuteness!!

I have always wanted to go to Hawaii - especially as the island is apparently starting to sink and in several years may no longer exist, which makes me want to go even more! Even better, Hawaii have a resort called Turtle Bay where you are able to swim with turtles.

Two for the price of one!

So, there you have it!

My 10 top items on my travel bucket list - let's hope I can tick them all off and start making some amazing memories!!

If you have visited any of the above, or equally have any other amazing places you would recommend, I would love to hear from you!
