The best views of NYC

Hi guys,

I've recently got back from New York and I really was blown away by so many different aspects of the city.

New York - one of the most popular travel destinations, probably a place on most people's bucket lists to visit one day... From the food, the shopping and attractions to the iconic skyline - New York is just something else.

You can find lots of photos of New York's amazing skyline online but it really just doesn't sink in how incredible the city actually is until you see it for yourself in person.

I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the best ways to view New York. In my opinion, there are four amazing options and I was lucky enough to see the city from all four!

#4 - Statue of Liberty

The Statue is an incredible view in itself and is definitely one to visit. If you take the tour of the Statue of Liberty you have the chance to climb almost 200 steps up to the pedestal of the statue which provides an amazing 360 degree view of the city, including New Jersey, Governor's Island, Staten Island as well as Brooklyn and Manhattan.

If you wish to climb further, you can arrange to climb up to Lady Liberty's crown but the waiting list is currently around five months! The view from the pedestal is pretty insane in itself so I wasn't too fussed about not being able to go higher.

#3 - Empire State Building

This is probably one of my favourite buildings in the whole of the city - it is so pretty and feminine and the interior decor is out of this world. Visit the 86th floor observatory deck to see the views of NY from every angle of the building.

You can visit day or night but I wanted to see the city lit up. There's something to be said about a bustling city filled with skyscrapers and impressive buildings all lit up - it is just breathtaking (and breathtaking it was).

As the building is situated near Times Square you had a close up view of this part of the city - one of the busiest areas and a pretty incredible sight.

#2 - Top of the Rock

This building offers a similar view to that of the Empire State, however it does offer the view of the Empire State itself. As I mentioned above, this building is absolutely incredible and is one of the main buildings in NYC. Although the exterior of the Rockefeller centre is impressive, it doesn't have any distinguishing features and is therefore hard to pick out when looking from the Empire State observatory deck.

For this reason, the Rockefeller building provides a better view in my opinion as it allows you to see the iconic Empire State as well as the rest of the incredible skyline.

#1 - Helicopter Tour

As you can probably imagine, the views when flying over NYC are breathtaking. Pictures really do not do it justice, maybe videos do to a certain extent, but nothing can describe how amazing the view is when you are seeing it so close.

The fact that you are in a helicopter in the first place is pretty insane so add one of the most amazing skylines in the world and it is a once in a lifetime experience.

Although it costs quite a bit more than other experiences, I would definitely recommend the helicopter tour for anyone visiting New York for the first time - it is arguably the best way to see the city and one not to be missed!

Rating: 10/10

If you are only able to do one of these activities, and are looking for the best view of the city, I would urge you to do the helicopter tour.

Thanks for reading!
