Macmillan coffee day

Hi guys,

I had the best day yesterday!! I decided a few months back, after seeing several people on my social media running marathons or doing skydives for charity, that maybe I should do my bit. I'm definitely not a runner and I haven't plucked up the courage to jump out of a plane just yet so I settled on something easier - a coffee day!

The Macmillan coffee morning / day is simply where you host an event and invite your friends over for cake and coffee. Each person will donate money to the Macmillan charity and may bake or bring along a shop bought cake if they wish to.

I've always loved the idea of a Macmillan fundraiser, whether it be chilled out drinks with the girls at home or a coffee day - it has definitely been on my agenda for some time now. Last month I decided to go for it and ordered my Macmillan pack, set a date and sent out the invites. I opted for a coffee day as I thought it would attract more people and therefore, I could raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.

I've always wanted to be more involved in volunteering and helping out charities in any way that I can and have previously organised a number of volunteering sessions and gift collections to help the homeless and under-privileged. I think cancer has probably affected all of our lives in one way or another so it is definitely a charity close to my heart and is one of the reasons that a Macmillan fundraiser has been top of my 'to-do next' list.

We had an amazing turn out - around 20 people turned up, most of which had all baked! It is definitely an event that I would love to host again at some point in the future!

Here's a few photos of the day...

I am so chuffed to say that I have raised almost £200 for Macmillan from just coffee and cake!! Thank you so much to everyone that came for your amazing cakes and extremely generous donations - I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did.
