Hi guys,

I have recently returned to rainy England after the most relaxing holiday to Antalya in Turkey with my Dad. A week filled with sun, sea and exploring (and unlimited food and drink) - what more can you ask for?

I stayed in a hotel in the town of Kizilot, a couple of hours from Antalya airport. The two main towns in this area are Manavgat and Side.

Manavgat is primarily a residential area however, it does have an enormous market. If you've ever been to Turkey before, you know you can't beat a traditional Turkish market! Side is more of a tourist area than Manavgat and is definitely the place to be!

Amelia Beach Hotel Resort and Spa

The hotel was amazing with a variety of facilities, including:
3 pools
Spa equipped with sauna, steam room, pool, hamam and relaxation area
4 bars
6 restaurants: 1 main restaurant, 1 beach restaurant, 4 a la carte restaurants
Snack bars serving pancakes, cake and ice cream
Tennis courts
Kids club
Games room
Indoor shops

Facility Photos:

Main Pool
Relax Pool and Jacuzzi

Chinese A La Carte

Fish A La Carte

Games Room - Bowling Area

We had the best bar tender at the hotel called Bayram who provided the best service and always had our favourite drinks ready for us! He definitely helped to make our time in the hotel as pleasant and relaxing as possible!

(other than sunbathing...)

Green Canyon

After I booked Turkey, I started to look online for the best boat trip near the area that I was staying. I am obsessed with boat trips - especially all day ones where you can sunbathe too! While looking online I came across a boat trip on the 'Green Canyon' as opposed to the sea and as soon as I saw the pictures, I knew I had to try it out!

What is the Green Canyon?

The Green Canyon is a large lake in Antalya, Turkey surrounded by mountains and appeared due to snow water and rain during the winter months. As suggested by its name, the water in the Green Canyon is a beautiful green colour which is a result of the limestone from the mountains.

Green Canyon Boat Trip

The boat trip is definitely one to recommend! The day starts around 8:30am - 9am when you are picked up at your hotel and taken to the coach location. Once on the coach, you then travel up through the mountains and to the Grand Canyon. While on the coach, you have a tour guide that explains all of the history of the areas and the incredible sights. It takes around an hour and a half in total to reach the Green Canyon.

Just before the Green Canyon there is an amazing Dam called the Oyampinar Dam where you are given the opportunity to get off the coach and take some pictures.

On the other side of this Dam is the Green Canyon.

As you can see, the views are stunning and so picturesque. This is definitely somewhere you should visit if you are in the Antalya area.

Once you have arrived at the Green Canyon, it is time to get on the boat. The boat trip itself lasts around 3 hours and you have the option to sit in a covered area or at the front of the boat, where you can soak up the sun. Towards the end of the boat trip, you are given a 20 minute swimming break.

Once the boat trip has finished, you are taken to the Green Lake for lunch at the Paradise restaurant.

Lunch is included in the trip price and consists of either fish, meatballs or chicken with salad. Once you have eaten, there is the option to either swim in the lake, have a go on a pedalo or simply soak up the sun and take in the amazing views.

At around 3:30pm you then meet up and depart the Green Lake, ready for drop off back at your hotel.

Side is definitely a place to visit - I wish I had more time to spend here. A bus from our hotel picked us up and we had 3 hours to spend in Side town.

Once you are off the bus, you walk down past the old ruins of the town where this is a museum on the history of Side.

You then reach the main strip which is filled with bars, restaurants and hundreds of shops. The quality of the items are amazing - I wanted to buy everything!

At the end of the strip you reach the amazing harbour which is surrounded by rooftop restaurants overlooking a small square and the harbour itself. We ate at a restaurant called Sun Garden which served the best food and a complimentary drink on arrival.
